For those of you who don't know me, my name is Monique Willms and Pocket Full of Whimsy is one of my many creative outlets and kind of a place to bring them all together. I retired from teaching Junior High English after I became a mom to "the boy one" and "the girl one". Now I am the photographer behind Blink Photography and a weekly columnist over at Lifestyles (ifamily). I love most things vintage, love creating, love Jesus and I love "the tall, dark and handsome one" whom I do this thing called life with :)

Now onto the challenge... a month ago Dani contacted me with a challenge to complete a photo scavenger hunt. We were to take a different picture everyday for 26 days. Seemed pretty easy... kind of forgot though that June is my craziest month for photography, between grads, families, maternitys and newborn shoots I was absolutely swamped! So, I challenged myself to go through all my archives and find my pictures there :)

2. Favourite Shoes

Hmm... This was really hard. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings :) But, I'll go with my new "vintagy" Pumas that I got for my birthday.

 

3. Hands

With this challenge in mind I took this photo during a family session. I saw the idea on Pinterest.

I'm a book lover. I have a lot of books. I hate the clutter. I've recently converted to a Kindle lover. These are my books :) (taken with iphone)

 

5. High Angle

This pic is proof that summer is finally here. Some of our favourite peeps hanging out in the kiddie pool.

We don't have a lot of animals in our lives (unless you count the cats I'm trying to trap, the birds on the wire or the wormans) so here is the boy one, all little, cuddling his stuffed dog.

10. Reminds you of childhood

My grandpa built this little playhouse for my mom and her siblings. I played in it so much as a kid! Cleaning, making cardboard food, and having pretend sleep overs in the loft.

 

11. Someone you love

I chose this pic because when I see it, it makes my heart literally hurt with love. Sounds cheesy but when I see my kids all puffy faced from sleep and needing cuddles I just love them so much!

This is the jar we used for Hannah's birthday. Every body filled out a little note and wrote blessings to give to her when she turns 18.

Currently yellow. Especially paired with gray or teal. Here is a collection of my yellow things. Sugar bow and butter dish from Anthropologie and the yellow bird was carved by my Grandpa. He's so talented.

20. Your weekness - Vintage Sheets!

 I just can't pass them up. My obsession also includes vintage quilts and afgans.

  I always wanted a motorized vehicle as a kid. I now live vicariously through my children.

Meryl, or as i like to call her Mezzles, is one of my dearest, dearest best friends. She is beautiful, kind, compassionate, amazing listener, sacrifices her time and energy to show her love. She is the type of friend that sends you a memory book of our friend moments when i am feeling down... yes she did that for me!


I was excited when she agreed to take part in this challenge and after just moving house, having a one year old and a husband, and computer issues, she pulled it out the back! So happy to be a part of Dani's photo challenge.  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Meryl... like Meryl Streep, not Merl.  :)  I'm 26 years old and have been married for all of my 20's, and I'm a new mommy.  Being a wife and a mother have been two dreams of mine that I'm so thankful to be able to achieve already in life!  I'm certainly NOT a photographer, but I do love taking pictures!  Being a mom of a busy 1 year old I find myself capturing moments and memories the easiest way I know how: with my iPhone.  So I did this photo challenge this way.  I've been having problems with my computer so I only had about half of my iphone pics to work with, so I had to be kinda creative to make things work :)  You'll meet the little man in my life who consumes my day, my heart and my pictures, he's seriously the love of my life (along with his daddy), so be prepared to get a good dose of him!

Guest on My Sisters Closet :: Tank top dress

I got the privilege again to be able to guest blog on my friend Jordyn's blog over at My Sisters Closet.

I tried my first ever dress made from a tank top and fabric, and im pretty impressed with my first try! I did however learn what i would and wouldnt do the next time, but thats what is so fun about crafting and DIY, you learn as well as learning to not be afraid to make mistakes.

Photo Treasure Hunt that you can give ago!!

All over the internet are different photo challenges, some to do everyday for a month, and there is even a project called the 365 project. You take a photo everyday for a year - its fun, but after a month i started to forget and so it trailed off. 


Thats why we are giving this a go. Everyone that has and will be involved in this 26 photo treasure hunt could use pictures they already have taken recently, or they could do the challenge in one day, or throughout the month, it was totally up to them!


Why don't you give it go, maybe do it with friends! Its fun and with summer upon us its a nice activity to do with the kids or your friends.
